Our journey began in 2009 as C.A.M Architectural Design. As we evolved, so did our vision. Reign Architecture was born from a desire to create a name that reflects not only our creative strength and personal legacy, but also our deep connection to the landscapes and communities we design for.
With over 25 years experience along with 16 years of local architectural knowledge and experience in Wānaka, Queenstown and the wider Otago region, we bring a deep understanding of the area's environment, building conditions, and lifestyle. This insight allows us to design spaces that are not only beautiful and functional, but also perfectly suited to their setting.

Carl Murphy
PRINCIPLE & LEAD DESIGNER
Carl Murphy is the visionary behind Reign Architecture, bringing over 25 years of experience in architectural design, construction, and project leadership. With a deep commitment to creating exceptional, functional spaces, Carl leads each project with a focus on precision, timeless design, and sustainability.
Carl's architectural journey began in 2000, where he gained invaluable experience working under various architects and designers across a wide range of projects in New Zealand and the UK. His diverse experience spans residential homes, multi-unit developments, retirement villages, large-scale healthcare facilities, and hospitality ventures, equipping him with a well-rounded and versatile design portfolio.
In 2009, Carl founded C.A.M Architectural Design, which later evolved into Reign Architecture. This rebrand reflects not only the growth of the firm but also Carl’s personal journey and expanding vision, focusing on strength, creativity, and leaving a lasting design legacy.
Carl’s dedication to excellence extends beyond architecture. As a professional athlete from 2008 to 2018, he represented New Zealand in snowboarding at two Paralympic Winter Games (2014 and 2018). He was also crowned 2012 World Champion and remains New Zealand's most decorated Para Snowboarder. The discipline, skill, and perseverance required to reach the highest levels of competition are qualities Carl has carried with him into his architecture career. His strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence are evident in every project he leads.
As a professional member of Architectural Designers New Zealand, Carl upholds the highest standards of architectural practice, ensuring each project meets the industry’s best practices and regulations.
